Medium Filters

Depending on their intended application, filters are manufactured using materials such as fiberglass, synthetic fibers, felt, cellulose fibers, activated carbon, and similar filtration media. In medium and fine filters, efficiency is determined by counting and comparing particles ranging in size from 0.2 to 3 microns at the filter inlet and outlet. For classification purposes, since the particles used during testing are approximately 0.4 microns in size, the efficiency of F-class filters is expressed in terms of their filtration performance for 0.4-micron particles.

When Should Filters Be Replaced?

Even when clean, filters create resistance to airflow. This resistance is referred to as the initial resistance or pressure drop and is measured in Pascals (Pa). As filters become contaminated, this value gradually increases. Once the resistance reaches the recommended final value, the filter should be replaced.

What Is the Lifespan of Filters?

The lifespan of filters may vary depending on the level of air pollution in the environment where they are installed. In addition, the performance of the system directly affects the service life of the filter. Factors such as increases or decreases in airborne contaminants and seasonal changes have a direct impact on filter lifespan.

Which Filters Should Be Preferred?

With increasing industrialization and population growth, air filtration has become extremely important. To remove contaminants such as dust, particulate matter, soot, oil, and odors from the air, it is essential to select and use appropriate filters. In addition to filter types, criteria such as filter cross-section, filter arrangement, airflow rate, air velocity, pressure loss, operating conditions, temperature, maintenance status, sealing performance, service life, and filtration efficiency should also be considered.

In air filtration systems, the design should be tailored to specific requirements while taking these criteria into account. For air filtration systems, it is advisable to consult professionals who specialize in this field before installation. Filtration systems implemented without expert guidance may lead to operational issues and result in significant costs for users. Therefore, when installing filtration systems, it is important to seek advice from qualified professionals and ensure that the system is designed and installed under their guidance.
